CanAm Conference 3/31 to 4/2
The month of April started on a positive note, by attending the Focus NY convention in Buffalo, NY. It was engaging to be in the company of the Capital Champlain section of the Professional Society of New York State (PPSNYS). I was also able to spend some time with the PPSNYS state officers. I would have to say they ran an organized show, all the way from print competition thru the closing dinner.
Another big plus at the CanAm show this year was the collection of guest speakers. Some big names in the business were there including Rick Sammon, Vince Versace, and Matt Kloskowski. The CanAm show opened at a new venue in Buffalo. The benefits included larger conference rooms, a very active and well-attended trade show area, as well as the ability to host outside workshops directly in urban downtown locations. The show was attended, with around 350-400 folks with interest in photography. From dawn to late evening folks were milling about, scheduling their time for workshops, tradeshow, print competitions or evening activities.

Teaching
Looking ahead in April, I will return as an instructor, at the JCC in Albany, NY. I will be teaching a series of lessons called Beyond Basics. It will be fun to get in front of an eager group of beginning photographers and provide them with some help and advice.
Travel and Outdoor Image Making
At the moment, my plans for making images may revolve around visits throughout NH and VT. It seems logical that I should take advantage of the locations of the homes of my family. They have already decided to invade my space in August, so quid pro quo. The Nikon D5 and the new 105 is my favorite combination and we are looking for unique ops!
Tip
If you own one of the newer Epson printers, you will find the new (free) Epson Print Workflow software remarkably easy to use on your Px00. Vincent Versace worked on the beta software. Additionally, at the CanAm expo he held a class on B&W printing and demonstrated the released software, which you can download the software (free) from Epson. Moose Peterson has a basic instructional video over at his site, which I’d encourage you to watch.
